In his trial, former President Trump was found guilty of 34 felony charges

A jury finds Donald Trump guilty of 34 counts of felony felony infractions and threatens to prosecute the next-to-leading citizen

Legal experts told NPR that it’s not likely that Trump will get jail time because his charges carry a maximum sentence of up to four years.

Lauren-Brooke Eisen, a senior director at the nonprofit Brennan Center for Justice, told NPR’s Ximena Bustillo before the trial’s conclusion that it’s “very unlikely for someone who has never been convicted of a crime to go to prison … for their first offense, which is nonviolent.”

Depending on the charges, Trump could face a maximum sentence of four years in prison, but he could get less severe punishment, like a slap on the wrist.

A jury found Donald Trump guilty on all 34 counts. The jurors said they unanimously agreed Trump falsified those business records to conceal a hush money payment to adult film star Stormy Daniels in order to influence the outcome of the 2016 election. The details of those counts are here.

“Florida’s statute says that someone who has a felony conviction in another state makes them ineligible to vote there, and that’s what I suppose it means,” Levitt said earlier this year. “[But] only if the conviction would make the person ineligible to vote wherever they were convicted.”

The first female president of Mexico is about to be elected. The ruling party’s candidate and the opposition candidate are both women. Eyder said that despite the possibility of history being made, the people on the streets were skeptical. Some say they expect politicians to be corrupt, no matter their gender. Others, like 92-year-old feminist Elena Poniatowska, credits hard work and feminist intention, adding that Mexico’s “triumph” of a first woman president is no surprise.

Trump’s sentencing is scheduled for July 11, just four days before the start of the Republican National Convention, where he is set to become the official presidential nominee for the Republican Party.
