Harris has a stance on Israel

Critics of Biden’s Gaza policy are just some of the people who are watching Harris messages in the weeks ahead. Democrats and Republicans have differing opinions on Israel. Netanyahu is scheduled to meet with former President Donald Trump, the Republican nominee, on Friday, and Harris’ views will almost certainly come up.

With roughly 100 days until the 2024 election, Harris is aiming to define herself on the campaign trail. She heads to Indianapolis today to speak to a Black sorority. The trip follows her first official public appearance as a presidential candidate yesterday. She walked out to Beyoncé’s “Freedom” as a highly energetic crowd of 3,000 people chanted her name in Milwaukee. The event had to be moved because of high interest.

According to a new NPR poll, Vice President Harris has the chance to win over some voters who now say they are undecided. The poll shows Harris and Trump are tied but 1 in 5 independents are undecided, up from 4% a week ago.

Cheatle in the White House: Why a second Trump term is critical for Harris and NASA races to save a chandra telescope

U.S. Secret Service director Kimberly Cheatle resigned from her job yesterday, according to the White House. The decision came just a day after she testified before the House Oversight Committee, where she faced bipartisan criticism for not fully answering their questions about the assassination attempt on Trump.

The Interior Department has policies in place to help Alaskan communities who are threatened by rising sea levels. His work moved forward during former President Barack Obama’s administration. When Trump took over, Clement was reassigned as part of a government-wide effort to stop working on climate change. Clement resigned as a scientist and became a whistle blower on what he and other scientists saw as the Trump administration’s political interference and censorship of science. In a second Trump term, scientists fear that such interference would become even more severe. Here’s why:

Putting the New Music to the Music: When Michelle Hamilton and I meet Joe Biden, the Secretary of State for the Defense of the Palestinians, and the Case of Gaza

A different discovery along the way was made by PhD student, Madeleine Hamilton, who set out to explain our emotional connection to popular music. The most popular tunes are not that complicated than they were in the past. Hamilton analyzed more than 1,000 pop songs to show how the vocals have gotten less sophisticated over time. But that doesn’t mean today’s hits lack complexity.

The vice president is usually in charge of the joint address in Congress, but on Wednesday she wasn’t there. The scheduling conflict was cited by her team.

If hope thrives or dies, I think it’s going to depend on the messages that come forward from Vice President Harris’s campaign. “I think she has a real opportunity.”

In both public and private, Harris is seen to show a greater understanding and empathy for Palestinians, multiple people told NPR. They say she was more sympathetic to the protesters of Israel’s military operation.

She doesn’t have Biden’s long history with Israel or its leaders at the same time. And she’s also from a different generation, which means she’s going to put a greater focus, I think, on human rights, diversity, discrimination.”

“If I had, for example, tried to go to a mosque or Arab community event and urged them to vote for Joe Biden, I would never be invited back. The anger was so deep. And the hurt was so deep — even for me,” said Georgia State Rep. Ruwa Romman, a Palestinian-American.

Some Democrats who voted uncommitted in the presidential primaries in order to protest Biden’s policy are open to giving her a chance thanks to Harris’ expressions of empathy.

When she was the Vice President, she was more sympathetic to the suffering of Palestinians than Biden was.

Harris spoke in Alabama last March and said that the situation in Gaza was devastating. “We have seen reports of families eating leaves or animal feed, women giving birth to malnourished babies with little or no medical care, and children dying from malnutrition and dehydration.”

Soifer said he attended a White House event where she was leading the charge in drawing attention to the use of rape as a weapon of war.

One mistake on the conflict can hurt her support in key states that Democrats need to keep the White House, which is why Harris has to balance out her stance on the conflict in a race where she’s likely the Democratic nominee.

How Does Your Child Get Sleep? A View from Bobby Carter of Tiny Desks and What Biden Had to Say About His Presidency in 2020

Tweens might not be getting enough sleep due to how they use their electronic devices before bedtime. Scientists looked at nearly 9,400 11- and 12-year-olds for the Adolescent Brain Cognitive Development Study, a long-term study of brain development and child health in the U.S. Researchers asked the kids and their parents how they use their screens and how well they sleep. A follow-up was done a year later. Here’s how parents can help their kids have better quality sleep.

The annual Tiny Desk Contest received over 7,000 entries. There was no shortage of talent despite the fact there was only one winner. NPR Music’s Bobby Carter, who has produced Tiny Desks for some legendary hip-hop artists such as Mac Miller and Noname, breaks down some of his favorite entries. Carter talks about how hip-hop acts submitted more of their work this year.

In the upcoming election, Harris has a fundamental challenge of holding together the coalition that Biden won in 2020. The problem: They have very different views on some issues. Her time as a prosecutors in California is one of the things that is under scrutiny. There are two people in Pittsburgh who have to say about the issue.

President Biden spoke to the Oval Office about his decision to stop campaigning for reelection. He also laid out plans for the next six months of his presidency. Biden said he didn’t want to drop out of the presidential race, but the stakes were just too high to risk. There are a few things he said in his speech.
