There have beenoldids from the Democratic National Convention

The Democrat National Convention: Tim Walz, Kamala Harris, and the Matrix of Our Lives (The Third Day of the Democratic National Convention)

The third day of the Democratic National Convention is over. And while the night was capped with Tim Walz accepting the party’s vice presidential nomination, there were a few other twists and turns along the way.

Reproductive rights was again a focus of the night, along with justice and the theme of “joy,” as senior Democrats sought to paint a picture of unity under Kamala Harris and chaos with Donald Trump.

Coming out to standing ovation and a sea of “Coach Walz” banners in the arena, Tim Walz went on to deliver a personal and comparatively short address to the DNC.

Let’s get into the chase. I am too old to gild the lily,” said Clinton, who recently turned 78. He said that he’s still younger than Trump.

Clinton went on to say that in 24 years, we have a choice: We The People or Me, Myself, and I. The theme for Wednesday was “We The People”.

“We’re now so fired up, we can’t wait to leave here and do something, and what we’re gonna do is elect Kamala Harris as the next president of the United States,” she said.

The DNC: A Democratic National Convention: Why We Cannot Become a Free Nation When We Are Not Free,” said Geoff Duncan

“The makeup of my kitchen table, the existence of my family is just one example of something that was literally impossible as recently as 25 years ago when an anxious teenager growing up in Indiana wondered if he would ever find belonging in this world,” he said.

The audience was roused in celebration of Harris by the poem written by Amanda Gorman, which featured Stevie Wonder and Kenan Thompson. The theme of the evening was freedom, and Gorman spoke of audacity of hope and the need to vote in this election.

“I joined the Army when I was 17. I am too young to sign the paperwork. His mom signed the paperwork for him, even though he didn’t have bone spurs.

“We must choose courage over complacency. It is time to vote, and it is time to get up. Even though our hearts have been shattered, I know the importance of action. And now is the time to understand where we are and what it will take to win.”

Former Georgia Lt. Gov. Geoff Duncan joined a slate of fellow Republicans to pledge their support to Harris on Wednesday, painting Trump as a fundamental threat to American democracy.

In front of a crowd, Duncan said he was an American and that he was a Republican. “An American who cares more about the future of this country than the future of Donald Trump.”

One of them is Olivia Julianna, who made content and spoke at the convention. She told All Things Considered that she’s an activist, and doesn’t pretend to be neutral.

Cecile Richards, the first president of the organization, took the stage after speeches from several other prominent advocacy groups.

“We cannot call ourselves a free nation when women are not free,” she said, speaking in detail about the challenges faced by those seeking reproductive care and abortion access in America.

Tim Walz During the First Day of Running Against Ms. Harris: A Brief Address to Oprah and Other Undecided Electors

Troye, an adviser to former Vice President Mike Pence, quit the White House in August 2020 after she saw the risks of Trump’s leadership.

An emotional Jon Polin and Rachel Goldberg, parents of Hersh Goldberg-Polin held hostage by Hamas in Gaza since Oct. 7, took to the podium calling for a cease-fire deal so that the 109 remaining Hamas hostages can return home.

Polin and Goldberg have taken to wearing a piece of tape with the number of days their son has been held captive written in marker and placed on their chest. The reading today was: 320.

Conventions are always events that feature not just the ticket running in the current election cycle, but a chance for potential future candidates to shine, to stand out and make a name for themselves before a large audience.

The crowd of faithful in Chicago, but also to voters at home, was what Gov. Tim Walz of Minnesota was going to do Wednesday night before he was chosen as the running mate of Ms. Harris.

Those audiences also heard, though, from President Biden, the Obamas, the Clintons, even Oprah Winfrey, as well as several other speakers before Harris herself takes the stage Thursday night.

Democrats have had a hard time being seen as being more heart than head. But Walz, as he did in his first speech when he was introduced as Harris’ pick, showed that he has a common touch. It’s interesting that the ticket with the Ivy League degrees is Trump-Vance and not Harris-Walz. (Joe Biden, by the way, was the first president since Reagan not to have an Ivy League degree.)

The group of people who spoke on Wednesday, whether it was Oprah, Bill Clinton, Pete Buttigieg or the Republicans, all appealed to undecided voters and persuadable independents.

Oprah called on all the undecided voters to vote for Harris because she is a registered independent. decency and respect will be on the ballot in 2024, she said. Common sense should be our choice over nonsense.

Walz, for his part, also made the case for Democratic ideas, not as radical as Republicans have tried to paint them, but as mainstream – things like making housing more affordable, cutting the price of prescription drugs, reducing medical debt, providing meals for children in schools and standing up for abortion rights.

They were certainly on display Wednesday night with speeches by not just Buttigieg, but also people like Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro and Maryland Gov. Wes Moore – three names the country is likely to hear again in Democratic presidential primaries in either four or eight years.

There appeared to be a double meaning to those chants of, Thank you, Joe. Thanks for what you did as president and also for quitting the race. The stemwinder of Biden’s speech made clear that Democrats were nervous about his candidacy.

That’s something political consultants would have strongly cautioned her against saying while on the campaign trail in 2007 and in the White House after that because she and her husband had to walk a fine line in trying to not offend white voters, who might have been cautious about voting for a Black man to be president. But Michelle Obama is now one of the most beloved Democrats in the country. She is liberated by no longer being involved in electoral politics because she had the leverage to say what she did.

A lot has been written about the fact that Harris would be the first black woman to serve as president, the first South Asian woman to do so, and the first woman of color to be president. That would be a major historical feat. But it’s also unusual to see a man rounding the edges of his political candidate wife, who is running for president. It’s also very different from what Bill Clinton did for Hillary Clinton in 2016, the only other time this kind of speech was delivered. Clintons had a child with a well-known former president.

Emhoff, on the other hand, is someone far less known and his family’s story showed a lot of new things on a political stage. It highlighted an interracial marriage and the complexities of step parenting. Millions of Americans can identify with blended families because a significant percentage of marriages end in divorce.

On the First Name of a Vice President: The Case For Kamala Harris and the Way to Make Sense of the World, Just For The Cause Of Your Heart

And now the table is set for Harris. She will be making a speech in front of likely the largest audience she’s had yet. The opportunity is there for her to keep up the momentum that has come from her candidacy. Can she deliver?

“Confusion is understandable,” Washington said on the oft-repeated mispronunciations of the vice president’s name. “Disrespect is not. We are going to help everyone get it right.

Harris is the first name of former President Trump. At one rally in July, he said: “I couldn’t care less if I mispronounce it. I didn’t care less.

Meena, the daughter of Harris’ sister, Maya, spoke about how she grew up in a household filled with strong women figures — “my mom, my grandma, and my auntie, who showed me the meaning of service, helping her sister, a 17-year-old single mother, fighting for justice for the American people, and still cooking Sunday dinner.”

“Like a lot of young people, I was not always clear about what I was feeling,” Emhoff said. No matter what, Kamala was there for me. She’s never stopped listening to me and she’s not going to stop listening to all of us.”

Her advice means everything to me. Whether it is pursuing my passions, making an impact, or finding hope when the world doesn’t feel so hopeful. She taught me that making a difference means giving your whole heart and taking action.”

All three said Harris would give everything to the country as president — from fighting for economic opportunity, protecting LGBTQ+ rights, environmental justice and reproductive freedom.

The Good, the Bad and the Ugly: Kamala and Maya’s Big Idea to the President of the United States of America

“Kamala and Maya’s Big idea,” a children’s book about how two sisters effect change by working with the community, was inspired by Kamala and Maya, according to CNN in 2020.

Recently, Emhoff was thrust into the spotlight after she said that she loved her three parents, after Republican vice presidential nominee Harris said she was a childless cat lady.

She said that she could see her smile as she said how proud she was of Kamala. She would say that was enough without missing a beat. You have work to do.'”

These were five Black and Brown New York teenagers who were wrongly convicted of rape. Trump took out ads in the newspaper calling to reinstate the death penalty.

Donald Trump is a fellow New Yorker and I have known him for 40 years. Only once — once — in that time did he take a position on racial issues,” Sharpton said.

“On behalf of everyone whose story could only be written in the greatest nation on Earth, I accept your nomination to be president of the United States of America,” she said. With this election we have a short-lived chance to overcome the bitterness, cynicism and divisive battles of the past.

DNC Night 4: Democratic National Convention Speakers from Harris, Whitmer, Sharpton, and more (with an illustrative account of Donald Trump’s conversation with the media)

The theme of Donald Trump’s fourth night was gun violence, along with race, climate change, and “joy” and “we’re not going back.”

Warren and Harris were candidates for the Democratic presidential nomination. Harris dropped out in 2019 and Warren dropped out after a bad showing on Super Tuesday.

The Interior Secretary took the stage following a video about rising temperatures and the passage of the Inflation Reduction Act.

The first Native American to hold the role focused on climate and the environment, and argued that an American president must lead the world in tackling climate change. Haaland mentioned that the IRA was sent to Biden because Harris cast the tie breaking vote in the Senate.

“Kamala Harris has lived a life like ours, she knows us,” Whitmer told the crowd. Donald Trump didn’t know you at all. You think he understands that when your car breaks down you can’t get to work? No. His first word was probably ‘chauffeur.'”

Is there a time when he had to take items out of the cart before checking out? You think he’s never been to a grocery store? That’s what the chauffeur is for.”

Taking a Stand against Violence: Black History, Gun Violence, and the DNC Night 4 Address from the Former U.S. Representative Maxwell Frost

Vote for our values and vote for Harris. He added that he was making this endorsement despite having policy disagreements with Harris.

Kinzinger, the only Republican to speak at the DNC on the last day, said the former president had profoundly shaped the soul of the Republican party.

In a passionate speech to the convention, Florida representative Maxwell Frost stressed the stakes of the race, arguing Harris is the candidate to address climate change.

The 26-year-old is the first member of Generation Z to serve in Congress. In the year 2022, Frost was elected. He has a background in organizing, first getting involved in the gun violence prevention movement after the Sandy Hook mass shooting in 2012 while he was in high school.

The DNC crowd heard from the Giffords family, who spoke about their own experiences with gun violence.

I served in Congress for five years from a swing district. In front of an audience, Giffords and her husband Mark Kelly said that they were called a rising star.

Giffords was injured in a assassination attempt and served in the House of Representatives for two years. 18 people, including Giffords, were shot. Six were killed.

Trump’s criticism of the Kremlin in Russia and his failure to follow the Russian lead in the war on Ukraine (and the actions of the Russian prime minister)

Among other things, he criticized Trump’s past remarks on Russia. He went after Trump for his failure to hold Russia accountable for their invasion of Ukraine as well as for his lack of commitment to NATO.
