The ‘Kids Online Safety Act’ (KOSA) and the’Children and Teens Online Privacy Protection Act’ would impose new responsibilities on tech platforms accessed by teenagers. It would make it easier to protect their kids from becoming victims of cyberbullying.

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has said that the decision to ban two transgender boxers from the Rio Games was taken without proper procedure. The two boxers, Imane Khelif of Algeria and Lin Yu-ting of Taiwan, had failed gender eligibility tests in the past. “They are women on their passports, they are women who have competed in the Tokyo Olympics,” IOC said.

The Turkish government has said that it had played a “key role” in the prisoner exchange between Russia and the US. Russian President Vladimir Putin’s chief of staff, Sergei Ivanov, told Russian state news agency RIA-Novosti that Russia had released more than a dozen prisoners in exchange for Paul Whelan, an American jailed in Russia.

Israel says it killed a Hamas military commander in an airstrike

The Israeli military has said that it carried out an air strike on the residence of Hamas chief Mohammed Deif in Iran’s capital, Tehran. The military added that the strike was carried out in response to several rocket attacks from Gaza against Israel. Deif was killed on July 13 in a strike that killed over 90 people, Gaza’s health ministry said.
