Here is our first look at the new phones

Features and Tools for the Apple Intelligence Platform: Predicting Product Releases and Getting Used to a Dog’s Science at a Supermarket

The Action Button is an addition to the latest edition of the device, and there is a new camera control button that is dedicated to snapping photos. There are a number of improvements in the software that can be downloaded if you have a compatible device. You will not see much of Apple Intelligence until the iOS 18.1 update arrives in October.

The Apple Intelligence features that will be available in October are set to be a part of these new phones. The company claims that its new phones have been designed for Apple Intelligence. Like other tech companies, AI is a big focus for Apple this year, and the company already showed off several AI-powered tools at its most recent Worldwide Developers Conference, including an upgraded Siri and integration with OpenAI’s ChatGPT.

Apple has struggled with iPhone sales of late, which generate most of the company’s revenue. In May, Apple reported a steep quarterly decline in its iPhone sales, marking the biggest drop in iPhone sales since the height of the company’s pandemic-fueled production delays.

By holding the camera button, users can take a picture of a restaurant and get details or point the camera at a dog to learn its breed.

The new Apple Watch Series 10 and AirPods 4: a new audio interface for recording, writing and texting with AI, Siri and writing tools

The 16 Pro also allows for videos to be recorded in 4K resolution at 120 frames per second and for better audio recording capabilities, the company said.

Siri and Writing Tools will use the AI features, which are integrated with ChatGPT — giving users the ability to rewrite, fix grammar and summarize texts, notes and emails, Apple said.

Apple Intelligence will be released in U.S. English next month, with more features to be added later.

The Apple Watch Series 10 has a new thin profile with a larger wide-angle display that Apple says is 40 percent brighter when viewed at an angle. It can make a noise while you’re asleep to detect signs of sleep apnea. The new watch also has a built-in depth and water temperature sensor.

Apple has finally taken the wraps off the AirPods 4, which come with a new H4 chip that allows for better audio quality. The new buds are the most comfortable ever, according to Apple. They also come with helpful features like voice isolation and transparency mode.

Future Hearing-focused Features on the iPhone, the AirPods and the Prototype Spectrometer at the CERN LHC

The company says that means they offer hearing protection, a hearing test and hearing aid feature. Hearing aid features and a hearing test are still waiting to be approved.

Speaking of cameras, the iPhone 16’s dual setup of a 48-megapixel main camera and new autofocusing ultra-wide camera offers the “equivalent” of four lenses by way of a 2x crop mode and macro mode (more trickle-downs from recent Pro iPhone models).

The iPhone 16 has a faster A18 processor to handle new AI features coming to the device. The 6.1-inch and the 6.7-inch Plus versions of the same phone start at $899. They are in a variety of colors and will be available on September 20th.

The over thecounter hearing aid is going to be made available by Apple later this year. Apple is launching a couple of other hearing-focused features on the AirPods Pro 2, including a feature designed to protect hearing and a clinical-grade hearing test. More than 100 countries and regions will be getting these new features in a free software update this fall.

The Watch Ultra did not receive any major updates during the event, but Apple did announce a sleek black finish as well as the titanium Milanese loop band that is designed for scuba diving.

The new device comes in a polished aluminum finish in black, with matte options for rose gold and silver or a polished titanium finish that Apple says is 20 percent lighter than the Series 9. The Watch Series 10 will be available on September 20th.

Visual Intelligence is Available in the Colors of the Apple 16 Camera Control and the AirPods Action-based Control Knot on the iPhone

Yet Apple is also outfitting the iPhone 16’s Camera Control button with a new feature, called Visual Intelligence, which will automatically search for things you take photos of. You can also use it to perform actions, such as snapping a photo of a concert poster and easily adding it to your calendar.

The Apple event, “It’s Glowtime,” has just ended. While the iPhone 16 was the headliner of today’s showcase, Apple had several other announcements to share, including some exciting new additions to its smartwatch and AirPods lineups.

Apple says the ceramic glass in these models is 50 percent tougher than the first generation of Ceramic Shield, and a new manufacturing process makes the body colors richer. The phone comes in several colors, including pink, teal, ultramarine, white, and black.

TheAction Button is a new feature that Apple introduced last year. This replaces the Mute switch. The Action Button can be changed to use a flashlight, shortcut, or some other setting. If you miss the Mute switch you can set it to function exactly like that.

The Rise and Fall of the iPhone: Apple’s Unit Sales to Exceed the 2015 Supercycle, and What Has it Learned About It?

The cameras are on top of a small pill-shaped camera bump. This arrangement is suitable for spatial video, otherwise we will forget about the Vision Pro. It is only a fresh look for the regular iPhone and Apple likes to change it every few years.

The 16 and 16 Plus will be available next week starting at $799. Will the new buttons make them worth the upgrade? That’s what I’m going to find out as soon as I can get my hands on them for longer than an afternoon.

A “supercycle” is what it sounds like: an extended period of economic growth in a boom and bust cycle. In this instance the phrase is being applied to a specific commodity. And those who track the tech market closely believe—or want to believe—that that time has come for iPhone sales to heat up.

Apple’s unit sales in this year’s fiscal year, which starts in October, will surpass the previous record for units sold in 2015, making it a supercycle, according to a WIRED interview with a managing director of a firm who is bullish on Apple.

Morgan Stanley analysts said in a note ahead of today’s event that they believe Apple could perform better than historical seasonality, but that the announcement wouldn’t affect the market in a major way.

Apple did not sell as many products in the last year due to a lack of enthusiasm, but it did get a boost during the holiday season. An estimated 1.5 billion people already use iPhones around the world (though Apple has not confirmed this data), and the broader smartphone market is now considered saturated. Upgrade cycles have lengthened. In the UK, Apple is required to support security updates on iPhones for at least five years into their lifespans. Even small changes to the iPhone’s repairability, due in no small part to aggressive Right to Repair advocacy in the US, have led to consumers hanging on to their old phones for longer.

This includes more slick photo-editing features, AI-generated custom emoji, email-writing and messaging tools, and a much more natural-sounding and interpretive Siri voice assistant.
