More institution tables are measured by the total number of publications.
Drug-resistant infections will increase by 70% by the year 2050
A report by the Global Fund for Disease Prevention and Control (GEMS) has said that people living in low- & middle-income countries are more likely to die of infections that are resistant to antibiotics than their counterparts in high-income countries. The report estimated that by 2050, 1.91 million deaths could be caused by antimicrobial resistance and 8.22 million could die from illnesses associated with it.

A study published in The Lancet has claimed that at least 5,00,000 deaths could be avoided globally through strategies such as providing safe water and good sanitation, isolating individuals with resistant bacteria and increasing the frequency of handwashing in hospitals. It added that the largest reduction in deaths would come from improving people’s access to antibiotics that are not available in many countries.
