Los Angeles County Sheriff Robert Luna announces two fires with burned 56 acres of burned property in the Los Angeles Valley over the past week that have caused 20 and more deaths
While Los Angeles officials are making progress in fire containment and search-and-recovery efforts, more strong winds are expected across LA and Ventura counties over the next few days. These conditions will make it very risky to go out, even as the blazes continue to burn in areas devastated by them.
Currently the number of people under evacuation orders has dropped to about 92,000, with 89,000 people under evacuation warnings, Los Angeles County Sheriff Robert Luna said Monday. High winds are expected to cause new warnings and orders to be issued.
The environment is expected to be very dangerous if there is a fire, due to the fact that the winds are expected to be in magnitude over the next 48 hours.
A new fire broke out in Southern California on Monday night, adding to the string of fires there in the past week that has left more than 20 people dead and hundreds of thousands under evacuation orders.
The Cal Fire reported that the auto fire had burned 56 acres by Tuesday morning. There is a mandatory evacuateance in connection with the fire.
The LA Sheriff’s office confirmed the deaths of 21 people who were from the two fires, the first of which happened late Monday night. The Medical Examiner in LA County was investigating 24 deaths as of Sunday evening.
