What Has Nintendo Done Recently About the Switch 2? Is It Still Relevant to Xbox and What Does It Have To Do? The Nintendo v2 Revisited
Perhaps the most glaring omission in the Switch 2 reveal was the fact that Nintendo didn’t say anything about how powerful the new console is. We can see that the console is bigger, but what is the screen size? Is it OLED or LCD? Is it still possible to see a resolution of 720p on the screen? The resolution is 4K, is it supported?
The Switch 2 also features a second USB-C port at the top. There may be a way to connect headphones without sacrificing a port. Maybe it has something other than the usual function. Has the native support been improved? It’d be nice to connect more than two wireless controllers if a Bluetooth headset is being used. What about the interface? Can we expect to see a homescreen similar to the original Switch? Is there something about the system in the website for the eShop? Can you still post on Facebook? Will Nintendo add the ability to post to other social media or streaming platforms?
While we can deduce some information about the new Joy-Cons, there is still more that we don’t know. Are they attached via magnets? Do they still have 3D rumble? Will the Switch Pro controller or the original Switch Joy-Cons work in wireless mode?
The home button on the right Joy-Con has a new button below it. Does it have something to do with a new chat functionality like rumors have suggested?
In today’s video, Nintendo reaffirmed that the Switch 2 would be backward-compatible, playing both physical and digital original Switch games but with the important caveat that not all games would be supported. What original Switch games won’t be compatible? Will the original games that work on the console get graphical or performance improvements like the ones on the other consoles?
Is the price of the switches 2 going to be much? The original Switch retailed at $299.99 in 2017. Since then, the cost of everything has gone up, especially computer chips. The Switch OLED, the only significant console refresh Nintendo offered, was only $50 more than the base model. It’s hard to imagine what the Switch 2 will cost without knowing its internal specifications.
Expectations of the Switch and Xbox2: Where do we go? Where are we coming from? What will we learn from next-generation consoles?
There is a burning question regarding what flavors the Switch 2 cartridges will have. I am hoping for something better than what we are currently experiencing.
Nintendo devotees have been having fun with the leaks, whether it’s using Tarot card readings to divine the announcement date, or spoofing features like imported Italian air or screws. There are 10 grooves. One user joked that there would be a reveal on January 10th. Another constructed a “summoning circle” full of old games and Mario and Luigi figurines.
The next-generation Switch will be released into a much different console ecosystem than its predecessor. In 2020, the handheld Steam deck allows PC players to play more games on the go. During the International Consumer Electronics Show, Microsoft’s vice president of next generation said there would be updates this year to the Windows gaming experience. Phil Spencer said that there is the possibility of a handheld Xbox device.
