Israel has to wait for Trump so it can face a strategic dilemma in Iran

The Israeli War on War II: Defense Planes and the Costs of Defending the Nuclear Enrichment Site at Fordo in Northern Iran

Israel’s main remaining war goal is to wipe out a nuclear enrichment site at Fordo in northern Iran, which is buried so deep underground that Israeli bombs will struggle to damage it.

For a long time, Israeli officials hoped the American president would send warplanes to destroy Fordo.

The longer Israel waits for Mr. Trump, the greater the strain on its air defense system. Israel is burning through its stock of missile defense systems to keep out Iran’s missiles. The risk of more missiles hitting both civilians and strategic sites increases as time goes on.

With Israel’s airspace closed and much of its economic life suspended, the war’s protraction will also come at an economic cost. The sooner the war ends, the faster commercial flights will return and businesses can resume full operations.

But experts say that this route is fraught with risk and that its effect may be limited. Rabinovich said that it probably wouldn’t be on the scale of what the U.S. can achieve. If the U.S. could do what we could, we would have already done it.

On Friday, the Israeli news media continued to show continued domestic support for the Israeli campaign. The strongest polling position of Mr. Netanyahu’s party in more than 10 years is because of the attack on Iran.

Tucker Carlson was a host at Fox News, and he warned about the consequences of the president’s decision. The White House has dismissed any connection between the decision’s delay and the criticism.

Doctors Without Borders launched a two-year project in 2022 aimed at healing psychic wounds in the remote area of Alto Baudóin western Colombia. The region has experienced years of violence due to conflicts between armed rebel groups and criminal organizations. The project involves tearing up photographs of loved ones and homes and then sewing them back together, an act that serves as a metaphor for healing. Rituals are created to help manage anxiety and other mental health issues. Colombian photographer Fernanda Pineda documented the initiative in her photo series Riografias del Baudó.
