A shooting suspect is in custody

Vance Boelter, a 57-year-old man suspected in the shooting of a Minnesota lawmaker and her husband, has been arrested, police said. Boelter posed as a police officer and shot Melissa Hortman and her husband, Mark Hortman, inside their home on Saturday, police added. “If officers hadn’t encountered Boelter at Melissa Hortman’s house, forcing him to abandon his vehicle, this would’ve continued,” police further said.

Iran retaliates on the fourth day of the conflict

Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps on Monday said it has targeted Israel’s fuel structure in response to Israel’s strikes on its oil facilities in the south. However, US President Donald Trump said that the US “had nothing to do with the attack on Iran”. Trump added that if the US is attacked by Iran, that “the full strength of US Armed Forces will come down on [Iran]”.

The US Army hosted a military parade to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the US Army on Saturday. The parade was led by US President Donald Trump, who is celebrating his 74th birthday. The last major military parade was in 1991, also in D.C., to celebrate the end of the Gulf War and commemorate fallen soldiers from that conflict.

Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz on Sunday said that Iran crossed “red lines” by firing missiles at civilian areas in Israel and warned it would pay a “very heavy price”, according to The Times of Israel. He said that both missiles and intercepts had hit areas in Israel but refused to give details. Israel launched airstrikes against Iran’s nuclear sites on Friday.

Israel expanded its strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities on Saturday, adding the country’s military intelligence agency Mossad was involved in the attack. The move came a day after Israel said it carried out airstrikes against Iran’s Natanz nuclear facility, which the country said was being used to test a nuclear weapon. However, a protest permit for only one demonstration related to the parade has been approved by the US National Parks Service. The parade will be attended by thousands of service members, including President Trump’s daughter Ivanka.
