A suspect in the Trump shooting was charged with possession of a weapon of mass destruction
The story of the assassination of a former US President, Donald J. Routh, in Hawaii, on January 21, 2019
The president said that Ronald L. Rowe Jr., the acting head of the Secret Service, “is in Florida today, assessing what happened and determining whether any further adjustments need to be made to ensure the safety of our former president.”
President Biden spoke about how the ballot box is how America resolves differences and condemned political violence in an event on Monday.
Harris said that she was thankful for the safety of former President Trump. I applaud the U.S. Secret Service and law enforcement partners for their vigilance.
VP Harris condemned political violence, saying that she was “deeply disturbed” by the assassination attempt on former President Trump.
Federal Election Commission records show Routh donated to the Democratic fundraising platform ActBlue nearly 20 times, in amounts ranging from $1 to $25, between September 2019 and March 2020.
Routh was charged with possession of a firearm as a convicted felon and possession of a firearms with an obliterated serial number while in a federal courtroom in West Palm Beach.
Routh spent much of his adulthood in North Carolina before moving to Hawaii in 2018. He owns a business that builds portable storage units and tiny homes on Oahu. His digital footprint depicts Routh as a disillusioned former Trump supporter who backs Ukraine in its war against Russia.
The license plate on Routh’s Nissan belonged to another vehicle — a white Ford pickup whose tag was reported stolen — according to the criminal complaint.
Bradshaw said law enforcement got a big break when a witness came to them and said he saw the man running out of the bushes. I took a picture of the car and the tag after he jumped into it.
The AK-47-style rifle was used by an improvised sniper’s nest during Trump’s golf outings
Photos from the scene depict what looks to be an improvised sniper’s nest, with backpacks hung next to each other on the fence with a space in between them. The suspect placed ceramic tiles in a way that suggest they intended to provide armor against gunfire.
At the time of Sunday’s encounter, Trump was one or two holes away — “probably between [300] and 500 yards” from the suspect’s location, Bradshaw said. He said that it’s not long with a rifle and a scope.
The center adds that an SKS-style gun was used in two high-profile attacks in the past decade: one at a baseball field where members of Congress played in 2017; and another at a Planned Parenthood clinic in Colorado in 2015. The June 2017 attack on a Congressional baseball game practice in Alexandria, Va., left five wounded, including then-House Majority Whip Steve Scalise and two Capitol Police officers.
The criminal complaint against Routh claimed that the rifle was designed before the AK-47 and was an SKS style rifle. The guns have the same caliber rounds, and the SKS was used by the Vietnam War’s snitches.
“In the bushes where this guy was, is an AK-47-style rifle with a scope, two backpacks which were hung on the fence that had ceramic tile in them and a GoPro” camera, Bradshaw said, noting that the suspect was seemingly intent on filming what took place.
Bradshaw was of the opinion that Trump’s future golf outings might draw more security, but he also gave credit to the Secret Service and their agent for their work.
The Secret Service extends around Trump at the golf course and there was a bubble of security around him. An agent who was ahead of Trump on the course was able to spot the rifle barrel sticking out of the fence and immediately engage the individual, who took off, Palm Beach County Sheriff Ric Bradshaw said.
The weapon was spotted in an area of the golf course where three holes — 5, 6 and 7 — turn a corner close to an intersection where two large roads meet: S. Congress Ave. and Summit Blvd.
Ryan Wesley Routh, a Candidate at the Greensboro Golf Course During an Attempt Assassination on December 16, 2002
According to court records from the Guilford District Court in North Carolina obtained by WIRED, Routh was arrested by the Greensboro Police Department on December 16, 2002.
Routh’s cellphone provider gave him a location data that suggests he was at the golf course for nearly 12 hours, from 1:59 a.m. to 1:31 a.m.
Routh told the judge he doesn’t have money to pay for his defense. He said he has a son and was wearing a jumpsuit and handcuffs.
Former President Donald Trump was targeted in what “appears to be an attempted assassination” on Sunday afternoon, the FBI says. A suspect — Ryan Wesley Routh — is in custody after being identified as a man seen with a rifle at Trump’s golf club in West Palm Beach, Fla.
A Greenboro man’s barricade and his escapades began in December 2002, when Routh stopped in front of his roofing shop
She says she recognized him in his vehicle one night. “I knew he didn’t have a driver’s license, so I stopped him right in front of his roofing shop, which was what used to be on Lee Street in Greensboro. He stopped, and as I approached his truck, he pulled a sack away from the center of the seat, and I saw a gun. I drew my gun and said, ‘Hey! Show me your hands.’ He pulled into his driveway and then ran into his house. We had a callout and a standoff with the Special Response Team, who went in and arrested him.
Local reporting from Greensboro News and Record in 2002 states that Routh was pulled over by police during a traffic stop. Routh then drove to the United Roofing, where he barricaded himself for three hours.
By now, Tracy Fulk thought he was dead or in prison. I didn’t know that he had moved on and continued his escapades.
