AI company DeepMind, in its experiment, analysed a dataset of AI text and found that it was much easier to remove a watermark in the AI-generated text as compared to written text. It used a watermarking process that alters the way in which it statistically selects its ‘tokens’, which are the words from a given book or article. In its experiment, DeepMind added over 100 billion words.

Israel struck Hezbollah-linked banks in Lebanon
Israeli forces carried out air strikes on Lebanon’s al-Qard al-Hassan Bank and its branches on Sunday, the state media reported. This comes after a bomb attack on the bank’s building in Lebanon’s Beirut on Saturday. At least 14 people were killed and 67 others were injured in the attack, according to Lebanese Health Ministry.

The New York Times and Dow Jones have filed a copyright infringement lawsuit against online news aggregator Perplexity. The lawsuit accuses Perplexity of “hallucinating” news stories without permission. The New York Times had sent the firm a cease-and-desist letter, saying it was using the newspaper’s content without permission. Earlier this month, Forbes had reported how Perplexity appeared to have plagiarized stories.
