Iran retaliates after Israel hits more Iranian targets
Iran on Friday launched missiles at Israel’s biggest airbase and nuclear sites after the country’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, said that Israel’s attacks on Iran are a “despicable act”. The rockets targeted an airbase in the north of the country along with the country’s military and civilian infrastructure, Iran’s state media reported.
Pezeshkian won the presidential election in Iran
Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei cast his vote in the presidential election on Friday, state TV reported. The election was held after the death of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who was killed in a helicopter crash last week. Former nuclear negotiator Saeed Jalili leads with 9.4 million votes, while centrist Masoud Pezeshkian has around 10.4 million votes.
