Forests absorb CO2 and also methane
To estimate the impact of continuous CH4 emissions on global surface temperature and stocks of tropical forests, we used a combination of allometric model with global forest cover data. An allometric model was introduced to estimate woody surface areas across the world’s ecosystems, integrating our allometric model with global forest cover data. The new constant source of CH4 equates to 128 tons of CO2 over the course of next 20 years.
