A study found that a Gram-negative antibiotic, called lolamicin, was effective against more than 130 multidrug-resistant strains of bacteria growing in laboratory dishes. Mice that were given lolamicin survived blood stream infections after exposure to antibiotic-resistant bacteria. 87% of those that didn’t receive lolamicin died within three days.
