Syrians gather for Friday prayers for the first time since Assad’s downfall

Syrian refugees in Germany have said that they’re “free to be” after the ouster of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. “I’m Syrian but I’m also now a German. Sure I’m Syrian, but I’m also a German,” said Hafez, a Syrian refugee who came to Germany 10 years ago. She said she plans to stay in Germany as long as necessary.
