The mysterious force pushing galaxies apart may be getting weaker

Researchers at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics said they have found a way to use the robotic arms of the Hubble Space Telescope to study the expansion History of the Universe. They used redshifts to estimate an object’s distance using its redshift, which is determined by the degree to which its light waves were stretched by the expansion of space.
