Scientists claim to have found evidence of a development of complex life around a billion years ago in the Pacific ocean floor. Researchers found that oxygen levels increased near polymetallic nodules, which they said might have split the ocean into hydrogen and oxygen using its electric charge. However, a seabed-mining company said the results are the result of oxygen contamination from outside sources.
