How far can Donald Trump go in getting his nominees confirmed?

US President-elect Donald Trump has asked Senate Majority leader John Thune to allow for recess appointments of Cabinet members if they don’t confirm their nominations during confirmation. Trump added he’d “be shocked” if the Senate doesn’t do so. It comes after the US Senate on Wednesday voted to confirm Thune to be the Senate majority leader for the rest of Trump’s term.
