There is a failed moon mission
The Japanese space agency ispace declared its lunar rover mission ‘Resilience’ as a failure hours after the lander failed to land on the Moon. The company said they assumed the lander likely performed a hard landing on the moon’s surface. Earlier, the first attempt to land on the moon by ispace in 2018 had ended in a crash landing.
India’s mission strengthens the idea that the Moon’s surface was molten
Chandrayaan-3’s Vikram rover has revealed an early lunar crustal rock, named ‘Major’, which is at least two billion years older than the Earth’s Moon. Scientists found the rock contains a significant amount of element abundances. It also contained a fine material that covered much of the lunar surface, similar to what can be found in Earth’s crust.
China sent the first-ever samples from the far side of the Moon back to Earth
China’s Chang’e-6 spacecraft has landed on the Moon’s far side, where soil samples were extracted from the surface and taken back to Earth. The samples have been sent back to Earth as part of China’s “first-of-its-kind effort” to collect lunar samples. Chang’e-6 will be launched to Moon’s south pole in the first half of next year.
China has returned samples from the far side of the moon
China’s Chang’e 6 sent back the first soil samples taken from the far side of Moon. The samples will be sent to Earth for further analysis, China’s official Xinhua News Agency said. The samples were taken by Chang’e 6 after it landed on the far side of the Moon in June.
