With deaths of pedestrians increasing, regulators propose tougher vehicle design rules

The US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has proposed a rule to make vehicles less deadly to pedestrians. The rule would require automakers to make their vehicles safer by designating a blind spot for pedestrians and adding a warning light to the side of the vehicle. It will also require automakers to test pedestrian safety in real-world conditions.
