What people are the rebels who have taken control of war-torn Syria?

The Organisation for the Liberation of Greater Syrian (HTS) has taken control of the country’s second-largest city, Aleppo, and other parts of the northwest. It’s a significant victory for HTS and its allies, who have been fighting alongside Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s forces for more than five years. HTS is backed by Russia, Iran and Hezbollah.
