The tic tokification of social media may be ending
The New York Times and Dow Jones have filed a copyright infringement lawsuit against online news aggregator Perplexity. The lawsuit accuses Perplexity of “hallucinating” news stories without permission. The New York Times had sent the firm a cease-and-desist letter, saying it was using the newspaper’s content without permission. Earlier this month, Forbes had reported how Perplexity appeared to have plagiarized stories.
Perplexity is a hitting machine
US-based AI search engine startup Perplexity, which was recently accused of plagiarising content, says it’s an artificial intelligence-powered search engine that provides concise, real-time answers to user queries by pulling information from recently published articles and indexing the web daily. It’s also used by search engines to catalog the contents of the open internet and make it easier to find.
